A LITTLE DIVERSION ....

This was a fun project to do. A trio necessity for baby ..... a blanket, a drooling bib, and a burp cloth. This was a custom order and I chose a yummy minky chocolate brown fabric with large pink dots on the front side and a pink satin on the reverse side for the blanket. The bib and burp cloth were color co-ordinated in chocolate brown and pink. To present it I made a tulle bag tied with a satin pink bow and a hang tag attached. I hope the gift was well received.

DO YOU HAVE AN APRON STORY?

I was married in the 1950's and that was just about the end of "wearing aprons" as a homemaker. It was not a daily happening for me but when I was planning a large family dinner or holiday cooking I usually did don an apron. My aprons were well starched with gathers and tied at the waist with long apron strings and it was usually a half apron. Aprons were definitely a part of my "vintage". My mother-in-law on the other hand seamed to have an apron on when ever she was cooking. They were the typical full bib vintage aprons that you usually see. About a year ago I attended the Gift Shows in Los Angles and San Francisco with the owner of the Boutique where I work. I noticed a considerable number of aprons were being shown and I thought to myself .... I can do as well or perhaps even a little better or at least a bit different. so -- my apron journey began. Aprons are definitely on the come back and the young women are having fun wearing aprons not only in the kitchen, or for entertaining but as a part of her "look: wearing them over her jeans and dresses. Toddlers love to wear them to help their mothers cook, bake or doing crafts. I would love to hear about your "apron story", about you or your mother or your grandmother. All apron stories are just another extension of our cultural history. Please just leave a note in my comments of your interest in sharing your apron story and I will get back to you immediately. I think it will be fun for all of us!
