Tutus Aren't Just For Ballerinas ....

Sara RoseTutus are even more special as each one is hand-tied and intricately crafted by the company's owner, Stacy Derrick. A true mompreneur, Stacy first made a tutu for her daughter in January 2008. Compliments followed and Sara Rose Tutus were launched in March 2008. Stacy was now in the business of making Tutus.

Company name? ...

Sara Rose Tutus .... named after her beautiful daughter. When Stacy was asked the source of her creativity and just what is the passion that keeps her going, she replied, "My source of creativity is evey thing around me. If I see colors that I think will look good together, then I will put them together for a tutu." "The thing that keeps me challenged and keeps me going is when I get to see how much fun girls have with the tutus and the feeling of satisfaction each time I make one."

Stacy is very fortunate to be surrounded by her supportive husband, her family and friends. Her husband jumps right in to lend a hand with what ever is needed, cutting tulle, watching Sara Rose while Stacy attends craft fairs, and being her biggest cheer leader! On line friends are very supportive in sharing promotional ideas.

Growing up Stacy always loved crafting. Her mom loves art and passed that on to her brother, sister, and herself. Creativity is in the family.

Stacy's Blog, her Etsy shop, and at a consignment shop. There is a prospect of selling them, soon, in a Boutique. Her success has grown so quickly that Stacy sees the future of her business growing to the point of having other women assist her.

Experience is a great teacher. I asked Stacy just what she would share with others about starting a business and if there were any particular things she would do differently. "Success comes from a number of things: hard work, great ideas, passion about one's work and a supportive family and friends. I think the most important thing is to find something you love and just do it. Believe that you can and you will be able to succeed." As far as a mistake, looking back, "I would keep better track of business finances. I had no idea how quickly this would grow and so I was just not ready."
