FEATIRED ETSY ARTIST - George McKim

FROM THE STUDIO OF GEORGE MCKIM
Meet this fantastic artist extraordinary! George has been creating his art for over 20 years. He has a Masters degree in Painting and Drawing from East Carolina University. As George says , "I take my artwork seriously but I try not to take myself too seriously." McKim's passion is his art and his "day job" is working for a printing company as a graphic artist. Vincent Van Gogh is at the top of his list for inspiration. Nature brings inspiration as a great source of colors, spatial relationships and pictorial imagery. George McKim starts his art projects with a vague, beginning idea which then develops into an ever changing composition with the end results of great color, imagination and a completed beautiful work of art! One of the interesting and uniques things about George McKim's art is that the viewer can participate as he views the work, uses his own visual understanding of the art and draws his own conclusion of what it is saying. To enjoy viewing George McKim's current projects please go to his etsy shop: http://GeorgeMcKim.etsy.com Blog: http://georgemckim.blogspot.com/

FEATURED ETSY ARTIST - LostMitten -

LOST MITTEN - 90 features/90 days challenge Lauren, from Canada, is the creator of the Etsy store: LOST MITTEN As an artist she makes unique and original handmade crafts and geekey items. The following is an article that I took from the blog of Lost Mitten. I feel she can express herself so well in explaining just what her craft is: "I love Japanese Washi / Chiyogami paper - the beautiful patterns, flowing designs, cranes and sakura blossoms, autumn leaves, lucky cats - you name it! A brief description of Chiyogami paper: "Chiyogami designs were developed in the Edo period as woodblock prints by papermakers. They were based on the bright kimono textiles which the papermakers saw on the fashionable wealthier ladies in the larger cities. Many of the symbols depicted resemble images from fancy kimonos: cranes for long life; bamboo for flexibility; plum blossoms and pine boughs for beauty and longevity." Lauren creates pinback buttons and button jewelry for her Etsy shop made from the lovely Chiyogami paper. Her other talents include knitting , crocheting, creating journals and other paper goods. I would like to encourage you to visit her Etsy store to see all of the interesting works she has created: http://lostmitten.etsy.com Also, you will enjoy visiting her blog: http://blog.lostmitten.org
